It has been possible to obtain design protection for the entire territory of the European Union since 2003 via the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Alicante, Spain. Uniform European legislation shall apply to the community design that offers exclusive protection throughout the entire European Union.

You can protect a design if it is new and has an individual character. The design right offers a maximum of 25 years' protection, and the right must be renewed every five years. An individual application costs 230 euros, excluding the costs for a design attorney.
