Making changes to your patent

If you wish to inform us of any administrative changes to your patent, a deed is required. There are various types of deeds and a deed may only be registered for patent rights that are still in force.

Any amendment that is registered by means of a deed is entered in the patent register with retroactive effect.

Formal requirements
There are specific formal requirements and costs that apply to each type of deed. The different types of deeds are:

• Licences
• Right of pledge
• Seizure
• Surrender, assignment or change of name
• Nullification
• Claim

Non-standard document
If the aforementioned deeds do not cover the type of registration you require, this requires a non-standard document, and this is subject to its own requirements:

• It depends on the type of documents filed
• It may be of any nature
• The patent right number must be clearly stated

Registration of a non-standard document costs 27 euro per patent number. You can transfer this sum to the bank account of NL Patent Office.
